Production Log

Today I decided to make a list of remaining tasks I have to complete, this will help ensure that I keep up with my time management and also my deadline at the end of December, for all of my work to be in.

I began to complete these tasks, by creating a video on Adobe Premier Pro. It is a video of the photographs taken at the film shoot and some footage. The photos show myself using the camera in order to highlight that I filmed it all myself, ordering my actors as this helps them act in a better way and it is something I want, and finally setting up scenes.

This makes it clear that all the footage was shot by me and also legit in terms of copying and originality. The video also includes an image of myself and my cast after the filming was over, as I feel it's important to portray I have a good relationship with my actors and they were happy to participate.
The videos I create that show this sort of footage, including my raw footage video are all accompanied by Alternative Rock music, this is because I am constantly reinforcing my inspiration and the genre my video is attempting to portray.

Production Log

After gathering photographs from locations after my filming of the music video, I managed to have a clear idea of what photos should be used for my Digipak and Magazine Advert.

I successfully created both products after two to three drafts of each one. If i feel unhappy about both products or either products later on, I might adapt and change them.

For both I gathered feedback in order to ensure that my products appealed to my target audience.

Location Recce

This location recce provides information about the location in which I filmed at. It also includes some pictures which gives a clear visual image of what my music video may end up like. Furthermore, doing this helped me highlight some key advantages of the location and some problems I may have faced or will face if I will film there again. This together made me recognize the key benefits and drawbacks of my location, and if I should try and film at a different place as well.

Production Log

As I have been studying the influences on Alternative Rock music, I have gathered more knowledge on the type of visual look my music video must acquire. The images that stood out to me most were location images, such as forests, beaches, sunsets etc... This has given me a clearer idea of where i might set my music video and the way i might begin to film it. Starting with the sun coming up, but using editing to speed it up so it has a more postmodern feel, for example. Additionally by having my model dress in completely black clothing is another big convention of Rock music videos.

I looked into the influences of my artist's music genre by creating a mood board on PowerPoint. This is because I feel images are a greater way of learning and help me to identify differences in this genre in comparison to others. After gathering all my images and scattering them on a page, I began writing about them. Looking at them all, I could see links, in the instruments used, the image of their artists etc...

Doing this it has helped to have a clearer image of the Mise en scene i wish to create in my music video.

Production Log

Today I am thinking about how I can develop my research into the target audience of my music video. I feel as though the audience is the most important element when creating a media product. And in this case, with music, audience is very specific. I am going to create a video questionaire, asking lots of different people within my target audience, what they like, who they like, where they go in their spare time and so on. I feel this will give me more of an insight on how to create my music video in a way that'll be successful with its target audience.

Audience Feedback 2

This is a video of my audience feedback I received before filming my video as I wanted to know people's views on my idea first in order to make some changes if needed before filming. This audience feedback has helped me decide what changes I wanted to make to my initial idea for my music video, however it also made me realize that some of the ideas I had before were not applicable to my story line so therefore need to be changed.

Audience Feedback 1

This is a video of my audience feedback I received before filming my video as I wanted to know people's views on my idea first in order to make some changes if needed before filming. Work I Admire

I have decided to make this video in order to highlight what other music videos I admire. I admire Kodaline's work as all their music videos have good thoughtful story lines, which grabs the audiences attention and I am hoping I am able to achieve a similar outcome. Additionally, their official music video to the song All I want, which I am using for my own music video, is almost like a fairytale and it follows the conventions of Beaty and a Beast. This has made it more popular with the public as they can relate to the story themselves.

Actor release form

This is my actor release form which means that I have granted the right to photograph and record the actor and use these for my coursework.

Production Log

I have  decided I had done enough research for now, and will come back to it late as it is getting on in terms of time and I feel as though Planning is very essential. Therefore, I began by sending Kodaline an email. This was basically just to show that I had considered copyright issues and was aware that her song is not mine to use or mess about with, so I asked her permission if I could use it.
I then created a spider diagram for all my initial ideas. This is just so that I could get all of my work onto a page, and put my ideas out clearly, allowing me to adapt/change/develop them. I will be able to add to this diagram and think about what works and what does not. This is being used as a guideline for my production work. I then decided to bullet point that spider diagram on blogger in order to show it as part of some work I have completed.
I am now working on my mood board. I decided instead of using photos, I would create a video on Adobe Premier pro. I am getting videos off YouTube, converting them into downloadable videos, and then adding them to my mood board. This is just so that I can have a selection of songs and images that show the sort of image I wish to portray in my music video.

Editing Softwares

I have completed this Prezi in order to highlight which softwares I will be using in order to complete the editing part of my music video and in order to complete my digipack. This has helped me realise which programmes I have skills to use and which ones I lack in skills in order to make my music video and digipack look as professional as possible. Having received some audience feedback I realised that Adobe Premiere Pro will be the best programme in order for me to use to edit my music video.

Analysis of existing Magazine advert

This is an analysis of Rihanna's magazine advert, even though I am not using her song for my music video. I have decided to analyse this as her magazine adverts are usually very simple however very attractive, and that is what I wanted to be doing for my own magazine advert. I am hoping to achieve a similare product at the end, with a picture which is simple but says a lot to the audience and very little lyrics.

During October Half Term - Production Log

During my october half term, I have finalised my storyboard and have come to a conclusion that I wanted to change part of my music video.

My music video will now begin by the artist getting ready at her house with different types of shots, such as close ups etc. Additionally, the artist will then walk out and a close up of her feet while walking will be shown, which I believe attracts the audience more to know where she is going. The next scene will be the forest where there will be lots of trees, and on every tree there will be some song lyrics on. When the camera zooms in to the song lyrics a flashback will be shown in black and white. I believe this adds a great effect to my music video and makes it more eye catching to watch.

Furthermore, then the music video will reverse back to the start where the artist walkes out of her house, and this time instead of the artist going to the forest she will go to the grave yard where she will lay her hand on top of it and a close up of her face will be shown with a tear going down her cheek. This will make my music video more attractive to watch and more interesting as a story will be shown throughout.

This is a summary of me gathering all my ideas together this half term, ready to carry on filming in the upcoming days.

Brand Guidelines

This is my brand guideline and I believe this highlights the brand identity, which the fans of Kodaline will always notice as it is something that the Band are known by. For example the font Kodaline use which is 'Minion Pro' will be recognised with fans straight away and it gives them their own image and identity.
